This segment of our sequence depicts ways in which engagement is described as found, gained or won. “Finding Engagement” presents a rich diversity of ideas about engagement within descriptions of how engagement is ‘found’ in education.
Try to enumerate all the ways “finding engagement” takes place in the accounts of the educators. How is engagement found in education? What is important to consider and/or enact to be able to “find” engagement, for educators, for students? What do educators do to try to find engagement?
This video consists of the voices of ten teachers, one principal, one vice-principal, one superintendent, one school board chair, one former teacher & principal and one student. They are from seven different, mostly-rural, British Columbia school districts: Two from South-Eastern BC, two from the Peace River region of North-Eastern B.C., one from the Central Interior of the Province, and two from Islands on the Salish Sea. The interviews took place from 2012 to 2016.
